Candidates with experience in designing and engineering custom automated machines, a plus. Some automation experience and/or engineering for manufacturing is required.

• Execute mechanical engineering and design on assigned projects, including:
o Designing and modeling custom and special machinery, in SolidWorks, utilizing sound machine design and engineering principles
o Create final detailed part drawings and BOM for release to purchasing and/or manufacture
• Develop innovative and advanced machine concepts based on customer specifications
• Release of engineering and machine drawings for machine building
• Support machine building process from assembly, de-bug and acceptance testing, through potential on-site customer installations and start-up support
• Updated engineering models and drawings throughout the build process and create final “as built” machine documentation
• Assist Controls Engineering team with development and cross-over automation technologies, including: robotics, servo motion systems and vision systems
• Participate, when requested, in quoting of new projects and continued development of best work practices
• Assist with other duties, as assigned

• Bachelors’ in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong knowledge of machine design as it relates to factory automation
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
• Ability to create strategic and creative factory automation machine solutions
• Ability to coordinate with a project team

The Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical’s primary function is to manage, plan, organize, and execute engineering projects. These projects include the design and installation of production machinery and equipment, plant facilities, foundations, plant layouts, site evaluations, piping systems, structures and buildings, maintenance projects, and strategic capital projects. The Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical will be responsible for the full life-cycle of project management including planning, defining scopes, requesting and analyzing quotes or bid packages, data and cost analysis, managing cross functional projects team with members from operations, maintenance, process control, other engineering disciplines, outside engineering firms, original equipment manufacturer personnel, and all levels of outside contractors and crafts, hands-on engineering, implementation of change, documentation, training, and pitch-out of project status to all levels of the organization. The Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical could also act as the project lead for specific engineering tasks such as piping, foundations, building erection, or equipment setting for large capital projects overseen by an assigned Project Manager.

Responsibilities include:
• Develop and manage projects to meet specific budgets and schedules
• Implement the design process from conception to field changes
• Coordinate the fabrication and installation of equipment by contractors or TimkenSteel employees
• Facilitate the communications between internal customers, suppliers, and engineering activities
• Insure that all project documentation such as drawings and manuals are added to the engineering drawing system
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring for Design Engineers within the Engineering Department
• Provide on demand engineering expertise to operations, maintenance, and management

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical eng or related with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing or design eng or related.
• Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to engineering projects and/or
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to a variety of audiences
• Ability to self-manage competing deadlines and priorities

Preferred qualifications:
• MBA or Master's degree in eng with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing or design eng or related
• Able to read and comprehend 2-D and 3-D prints and understand dimensions and tolerances.
• Demonstrated knowledge of all specialties within Mechanical Engineering such as statics, dynamics, hydraulics, water systems, industrial gas systems, machine design, thermodynamics, and combustion.

Manages the Dan T. Moore (DTM) Makerspace Laboratory, an education facility that provides a flexible environment to educate the CSU engineering community through collaboration, innovation and creativity. Responsible for day to day operations and oversight of all DTM Makerspace facilities, employees and students. Assists faculty, staff and students in development of projects to satisfy curricular needs. Coordinating the DTM Makerspace budget. Responsible for fundraising to support the operation of the DTM Makerspace by providing development assistance and promoting the laboratory within Cleveland State and in the local and regional community. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.


Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in an engineering or engineering technology discipline and six years paid work experience in an industrial or educational setting with demonstrated emphasis on engineering or technological laboratory teaching or management, OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years paid work experience in an industrial or educational setting with demonstrated emphasis on engineering technology laboratory teaching or management. Demonstrated knowledge of current traditional and advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, including operation of all related equipment. Proven supervisory and training experience. Demonstrated ability to develop and administer operating budgets. Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
